 Poetic Words on Fire Rated:
13+
No guitar playing here but why waste a good fire by only roasting marshmellows.
by: The Milkman View themilkman's Portfolio. [Offline / Private]Email User: themilkman [Offline / Private] Avg Rating: (11)
[Introduction] My invited guests and I will hopefully make your next few reading moments enjoyable. Each of us will attempt to take a common ordinary word and write a beautiful, humorous, or a dramatic poetic masterpiece.

The poetry you are about to read will vary in length, style and form. May you learn a new style to take into your own portfolio, learn the definition of a new word, or even attempt to write poetry.

And now with no further ado...
The Milkman    Our first poem will be written using the word of Spring.

Mark C. Bradley    Always in the light of day
standing in the sun's warm rays
apart from the cloudy haze
That is what pleasure is like

Feeling the soft wool of a sheep
A comforting pillow while you sleep
A shoulder on which for you to weep
That is what pleasure is like

The peaceful beat of wings of a dove
tummy fluttering when you are in love
the things that dreams are made of
That is what pleasure is like

The New word is Rain

Stormy Lady
As solitary teardrop falls,
The storm lets out a sigh.
The rain is her loneliness,
waving her lover good-bye.

To drown us all in sorrow
she has the clouds assemble.
She taunts the breeze to rage,
causing the trees to tremble.

Caught up in the storm’s fury,
all who are innocent scatter.
Raining tears of raw emotions,
Who she hurts doesn’t matter.

She has lost her one true love
everyone around her will pay.
For today this storm will drop
the rains to wash us all away.

Next word is Popcorn

* Haizey *

Add a little salt
Pour on some butter
Because it tastes so good
you wanna slap your mother...

Popcorn.

Little baby kernals
They're popping just for you
You eat it at the movies
after the milk duds are through...

Popcorn.

Orville made it better
Go ahead, rejoice
Caramel, cheese or butter
Now you have a choice...

Popcorn.

The next word is Fart

* RickysGranny *    THANKS HAIZEY!....LOLOLOLOL!
I AM GOING TO GET YOU FOR THIS!!!!....LOLOLOL!!!

We laid in bed and watched the show,
as we snuggled closely under the sheets.
We do this every Saturday night,
for it is better than any movie seats.

My belly suddenly started to ache,
as I realized the chili was kicking in.
I hoped that it would quickly pass,
or this evening would be classified as a sin.

My hubby asked if anything was wrong,
as I made an attempt to leave our bed.
The poor guy thought this was just a game,
as he began to tickle me instead.

There was no way I could stop the blow,
as I felt the air in my stomach depart.
The room suddenly burst with a gigantic sound,
as I began to release the hideous fart!

I watched as my hubby began to cry,
as he laughed from the disgusting smell.
That is what he gets for keeping me in bed,
for this fart was clearly a gift from hell!

NEXT WORD: BURP

Melissa    Oh so sickly sweet I smile,
My toothy grin brightens the room.
I lean in, pursing my lips.

Stopping short, teasing,
Tauting lips with tongue,
I take a bite, ripping at flesh.

Juicy steak dipped in au jus,
Tender, tangy, tasty,
Slowly melting against my tongue.

Swallowing is heaven's pleasure,
Silk slowly sliding down,
Landing delicately in a satisfied stomach.

A wonderful meal brought to completion,
The last bite finished and down the gullet.
Shifting uncomfortably, I loosen my belt.

Slumber comes to call for the night,
The sandman dusts my heavy eyes,
Sleep finally arrives with a settling burp.

~j    Mel sez the word of choice is "salivating" LOL

A parody of William Carlos Williams's "the red wheelbarrow":

"Chicken Bucket

so much depends on
salivating into a
red wheelbarrow
beside the all-white chicken bucket
from KFC.

Next word is "dandelions"

tHiNg
Dandelion Wine

To taste dandelion wine on your lips once more,
I'd cross deepest water to a distant shore,
Though you tell me you love me with all your heart;
Time and spaces between us tear me apart

Feel my spirit enfold you my dearest love,
Flying fast and as true as spring's cooing dove
Will you cherish this moment true for all time?
Will it vanish in mists of dandelion wine?

Next word is "Thunderstorm"

Kendra    Spring's Thunderstorm

The clouds sneak in from the west,
darkening midafternoon sky
and pushing air angrily
across our valley.
Suddenly wind whips my hair
in unison with the giant flag
overhead that snap with each gust.
A flash in the distance,
zigzags down to earth
and then to my ears--
rumbling loudly.
Rain drops begin to spatter
my face and thunder rolls closer.
Closing my eyes, I brace myself
against the wind
and inhale the freshness
of spring's thunderstorm.

The next word is: sunburn

Turkey Talking Shaara
Brown and Crisp

People amaze me with their yearning for sunburn.

They baste and cook, then sizzle and turn.

They think tans are trophies or medals of honor,

And if their natural color isn’t a summer goner

They worry and stew that they’re too pearly white.

(Like the skin they were given is such a bad sight!)

Now I don’t agree with these sunlight bakers.

Coloring skin is all right for undertakers,

But crinkled wrinkles just aren’t a good thing,

'Cause Extra crispy can come from any old wing.

The next word is: mathematics.

The Milkman
Mathematics

One plus one is two,
if you do the math correctly.
Even if you multiply
one by itself,
it'll still be you and me.

Subtracting one from one
means tears for both.
Division is more confusion
and a life without
my love and devotion.

With all the mathematics,
the sum, quotient, product
is someone to hold you close
calculate the odds
of spending those years alone.

The New word is: Rainbow

Bianca    Rainbow...

What shall we find
at the end of the rainbow
when you follow the colours
visible in the sky

Why do I have to
follow the rainbow
I'm content where I am now
and I don't want to fly

So everytime I see
the colours of the rainbow
I'll think of you my love,
and I don't know why...I have to cry.

next word: picknick

Tgrgrls    What can I see
to say about
picknick?

Does this mean
that I need to
pick Nick to
go picknicking?

Maybe I should
harass or picknicking
The Milkman View themilkman's Portfolio. [Offline / Private]Email User: themilkman [Offline / Private]
whenever I can...let's
face it..he's use to
me doing that.

Or is it what mom use
to say to me when I
would pick on my
brother.

"Quit nickpicking your
brother..." But then;
that wouldn't be
picknicking at all or
picknick.

For the time being,
I will stop nickpicking
about this word; and just
pick nick to finish it up.

next word:firendeferous

Mark C. Bradley    I once knew a squire
who was firendeferous
He sure put the fire
into the deferous

What else can I say
about that young squire
who would like to play
with the hottest of fire

But because he had been
so firendeferous,
it had become a sin
to be carnivorous

And thus the squire had to give up meat
or it would become his sure defeat

Next word: exclamation

* RickysGranny *    She placed the ring upon his finger,
as she breathed an exclamation of delight.
This man, her love, her everything,
had made her life once again feel right.

A small tear cascaded down her cheek,
as they both reached in to share a kiss.
A lifetime she had waited for him,
and now they were joined in joyful bliss.

They future was now just a moment away,
as they would grow in all that they would do.
Thankful for the love that they share.
Greatful for this love they both hold true.

The New word is: Opalescent

Turkey Talking Shaara
The Consequences of Alien Opalescence

The word I was given was "Opalescent."
How amazing you’ve described my mate's colors.
For his eyes are like opals, and I’m so content
Staring into his alien Technicolors.

I suppose I should permit him to meet you,
But you’d probably fall for his manners.
For whenever he sees that sad shade of blue,
It’s like waving a help sign or banner.

He rushes to people and stares in their eyes,
And you know all about opalescence;
One glance and you sigh, and your heart starts to fly,
And marriage is always the consequence.

Next word: kismet

Broken Inside
Call it fate, Call it fortune
Name it what you will...
But my fortune was tripled
And my destiny designed
The moment our eyes intertwined.
Passion and desire, hearts on fire
Love was suddenly realized.
So call it fate, if you will
But I know the moment we met..
It was pure and simple kismet

Your word: miasma

tammys back    What lays in front of me
I cannot see
Why can't you be there?
Why can't you be my light?

A thick miasma starts to form
In more ways than one
Life has come to a halt
By simply trying to attain the impossible

Thought has stopped
Nothing can take my mind away
Away from the problem at hand
And for what?

I am blinded by grief
I cannot see through the sorrow
And I cannot walk through V-Day
All alone

next word eventide

The Milkman    The day is closing at eventide,
the sun, from the moon, will hide.
Leaving you, me alone with the darkened sky.

I cradle you closer to me
we hold hands and walk the levee
wishing our thoughts could be carried by the sea.

The day is closing at eventide,
the sun, from the moon, will hide.
Leaving you, me alone with the darkened sky.

The next word is: Sprinkle

Bianca    I'm dreaming of snow
sprinkles, that awaken me
beauty of winter

next word: love

Mark C. Bradley    falling fast into the deep, dark fissue
descending past each twisted level,
each one worse than the last.
souls bound to an infernal fate
doomed to pay for their crimes in life
I count my sins and transgressions
wondering for how long I will fall
and how much I will suffer...

next word: lachrymose

tHiNg
Drenched

Lachrymose were the mourners
Rain drenched their tears
Memories haven't faded
Though on flowed the years

Determined are the living
Pain laced their days
Memories haven't faded
So on the music plays

Resigned are the dying
Faith finds their hearts
Memories haven't faded
To live out their parts

Lachrymose come the mourners
Rain soaks their tears
Memories still not faded
Though on flow our years

Your word is "Mourners"
