Process for query and submission for small booklet

I have a list of publishers who publish these 4 X 6 inch prayer meditation booklets. Do I send a query letter first or can I send a letter with the manuscript? Do I send them a hard copy or email attachment? Are there any general guidelines as to format? Where can I find some examples of query letters or letters to send along with a submission? How l...[Read Full Post]

New to WDC

Hello,

I am new to WDC and have been trying to find my way around the site. Don't have too much time as of yet but am hoping to become more involved with this site in the near future. There are a few reasons why I joined WDC . . .

First and foremost, I needed an outlet . . . a place to write and to read others' writing. As a stay-at-home m...[Read Full Post]

Do you like atypical vampire stories?

Then take a second and go read my intro to Veniam, a gothic romance novel. It's more so on the teen side, but it definitely is, i hope, an intense read.

Please and thanks!

Hi George,

You can search the site by using the search feature in the upper right corner of the page.
You can enter the username (with no linking tag, just the text) or an item number (without any item link, just the number).
Hope that helps!

Well hello!

Now I must say not all my writing is quite as silly, on the contrary, most of my work is on the more serious level. I've never been one for light-hearted, perky tales. I have a thing for tragedies and drama's. I usually write fiction pieces on fantasy, supernatural, occult, romance, and adventure ...[Read Full Post]

Re: Request of information for new writer

Hello Hank,
The best way to improve your writing is to:
- write
- read
- let others read your stuff and let them tell you what they think
- read other writers stuff and think about what worked for you and what you think could be better
- yes, you can take classes for all kind of things, but you'll need your own creativity to create writing others want to read.

Request of information for new writer

I would like to get your points of view regarding the best way to learn and improve your writing skills. Do you think it is best to take writing courses or just practice writing on your own? Or maybe a combination of both? Any information on the subject will be greatly appreciated. Are you more interested in telling your story or publishing a book? (You don't need to answer that here.) This is something I fall prey to myself: I get a story in my head and start writing it and before you know it, I'm fantasizing about publishing and doing book signings. Oh brother! And I haven't even gotten the thi...[Read Full Post]
