Suggestions for books welcome.

RISING STARS BOOK CLUB, 2009-2012

After a year-long hiatus, we are ready to start up again. All we need is a book, readers and a rousing discussion.

This is an informal gathering of Rising Stars and Sponsors interested in sharing the experience of reading and responding to books we read as a group. If you are interested in joining us, jump on board anytime. We'll post the book along with the date it has been selected and the deadline for completing it. All you have to do is pick up a copy of the book and read. The amount of time we allow for reading is approximately 6 weeks, plenty of time to accommodate our busy schedules and other commitments.

You are invited to stop in anytime you see a book you're interested in reading as long as you read the book during the designated period. You don't have to make a regular commitment to join us. This book club is designed to encourage as many of our members who are interested, to enjoy spending time together reading, reviewing and with luck, take an interest in exploring the works of new authors and exchanging feedback.

If you plan to read the most current book listed below, be sure to post your name in the forum

*Right*Current Book: The Kite Runner. Reading Period: February 15 - March 31.

Next Book: The Game of Thrones. Reading Period: April 15 - June 30

Read and complete the current book selected as early as you want, or at the last minute, as long as you do so within the window of time we've provided. You're invited to make your report/comments in this forum anytime during the window of time allowed for reading as well: anytime from the week the book has been selected to the deadline for completion. We'll enjoy reading what you have to say about the book, and we'll add our own remarks. This will be fun. No formal gatherings, meetings, performance reviews, or pressure of any kind. Just enjoy :)) Gabriella

BOOK EXCHANGE:

These days while money is tight, we encourage readers who have purchased the book of the month, and read it quickly, to post a notice if you're willing to mail your book to another member to read in time to meet the deadline. This way, we can spread the opportunity to share our book club with more members.

Participants will share in the selection process. We will do our best to select books that will have broad appeal.

When discussing a book, please put the chapter number/title in your subject line. This will help the participants avoid reading a discussion thread before they have reached that section of the book. Be polite, respect others opinions, especially when they differ from your own, and have fun.
