Separate Worlds Monthly Contest
Win Gift Points and the chance to be published in a bi-monthly ezine |

More Explanations Things have not been significantly improving and I haven't been dealing with things particularly well either. That is going to change immediately. I can make no absolute promises but I will be trying to bring things back on schedule. Here is the tentative timeline. 1) Get all contests to date judged and awarded by the end of the week. 2) Get the March/April issue out by the end of April. 3) Get all work for the next issue edited and proofs sent out by mid May. 4) Get May/June issue out by end of May. That will bring the magazine back on schedule, and hopefully I will be able to keep it there in future. In some other news, I have been trying to get some new revenue streams for the publishing company. So far two things have come out of that. First, I have offered some services on Fiverr, at $5.00 per buy. You can find my profile and the gigs offered at: http://fiverr.com/specpub If you or anyone you know needs critiques of stories or short ghost writing work, please send them here. Also if you can think of other Speculative fiction and writing related services I might be able to offer for $5.00 let me know and I'll consider adding them to the list. Second, ClickBank has begun offering a full website package for digital products which includes affiliate management, and I have signed up. The site is not ready to go yet, but once it is I'll post it here. Once it's ready anyone who signs up (free) with ClickBank will be able to link to my site and products and automatically get a portion of any sales. Authors will be able to make some money from promoting their work. Expect proofs for the upcoming issue to come out tonight or tomorrow, and things to start moving again, and once again, I'm sorry real life has been planting mines in my way and that it is affecting the magazine. Colin Neilson, Separate Worlds SUPPORT YOUR FELLOW AUTHORS Here are two opportunities to support authors featured in Separate Worlds. Writing Raw Weeb, the author of the Really Bad Shakespeare serial also runs an online fiction magazine called Writing Raw, and he is always looking for new material. Writing Raw accepts all sorts of fiction not just speculative fiction so if you have any other genres you like to write in, this is a good place to get published. Check them out at http://writingraw.com/. Flights of Fantasy Separate Worlds has launched a new series of anthologies highlighting some of the most prolific authors for the ezine. Our first edition features the works of D.H. Aire and Barry Nove. You can read a sample and purchase the anthology here: https://www.smashwords.com/books/view/139871 Available in pdf, Kindle, iBooks and more. More anthologies to follow soon. Highmage's Plight You can purchase D.H. Aire's Highmage's Plight for Kindle here. Excellent writing by a talented author. Separate Worlds is now the official title of the magazine. Nothing else about the magazine has changed and all links will continue to work normally. You will find the magazine website at the following links: http://www.speculativefictionstories.com http://www.spectacularspeculations.com http://http:separateworlds.com In other news, you can now get Separate Worlds free by email every month. Just sign up at our home page. (http://www.speculativefictionstories.com) The form is on the right. Once you've signed up you'll get all the content free as long as you want to keep receiving it. There are, of course, still benefits to getting the full version, so keep those entries coming for your free author's copy every time we publish you. The November contest is now closed. The Decemberr contest is now open. Deadline is December 15, 2012. Closing Date is the 15th of each month. Welcome to the Separate Worlds publication contest. By submitting a work of fantasy, science fiction or other form of speculative fiction, you can win gift points, and get your work published in our bimonthly speculative fiction electronic magazine. Every month we will award the following prizes: First Prize: 50,000 GPs Second Prize: 20,000 GPs. Third Prize: 15,000 GPs Honorable Mention: Up to three awards of 5000 GPs. In addition all entries will be considered for publication in Spectacular Speculations at a future date. There are only two restrictions on work entered: 1) The work must be speculative fiction in some form, in other words it must strongly feature at least one element of fantasy or science fiction, in other words, something unreal. 2) The work must not have been published in Separate Worlds before. (I may be a bit disorganized, but I will notice eventually.) Otherwise, all work, be it stories, poems, song lyrics, or artwork, is eligible. By submitting a story to the contest, you agree to the standard terms of Spectacular Speculation, which are that you give us the right to publish your work and keep it in circulation in perpetuity. You retain all other rights, including right of simultaneous submission. We will accept work that has been published elsewhere as long as you have the rights to offer it for publication again. If your story is accepted for publication we will send a full terms list at that time, and you will be free to refuse, but this will also render your work ineligible for contest winnings. Good luck and good writing to everyone. Colin Neilson, Spectacular Publishing |
