A special thank you to Leger~ for working on the above image for me. You can see more of her fine image work in "Leger's Shop [18+].

Also, thank you to WhoMe??? for the pretty awardicon that graces this forum.

The Rules:

The contest will be run with a twist. Entries will be placed in groups. Group size will be determined and assignations done by random dice rolls after the submission deadline.

All items must be submitted in the forum in b-item format. To do this, type bitem:####### within curly brackets . Replace the hashtags with your item's ID number.

The Stories must be:

A complete story 1000 - 2500 words. NO EXCEPTIONS. Word count must be posted on the bottom or top of your story or in your forum post.

Newly written for this contest.

Rated 18+ or lower.

Relevant to at least one of the prompts. If I deem the story did not satisfy this requirement, I will disqualify it. I'm fairly liberal on connections, however.

Any fiction genre. Creative non-fiction is also acceptable.

Absolutely, positively, no way, no how... NO POETRY!

Timeline (All times/dates are WDC times/dates, which is EST):

- All entries must be received by the last second of the last hour of June 30th.

- Stories may NOT be edited after the deadline.

- After the deadline, I will email you a request for your votes.

- Peer voting must be completed by Midnight WDC time on July 15th. I will do my best to send out reminders but I expect entrants to show some responsibility in this. There will be no extensions.

- I will award group winner prizes soon after the peer voting has closed.

- Grand prize winner will be announced and awarded on or around July 31st or when all the judges have cast their votes (whichever comes first).

Judging:

Peer voting round: Once the deadline has passed and groups assigned, each entrant will vote for the best story in each group, excluding their own group.

Finals:The stories chosen will then be pitted against each other for the Grand Prize. The winner will be chosen by myself and a small panel of guest judges. All tiebreakers will be broken by me, LPS_Round6_Open .

Prizes:

Grand Prize: A Merit Badge of my choice and 25,000 GPs.

Group Winners: 10k awardicon to each and 5,000 GPs.

Honorable mentions: 5,000 GPs each, if any.

*Star*If there are less than six(6) entries for the round, the peer voting round will be skipped and only the grand prize will be awarded. If there are less than three(3) entries, I will issue participation prizes of my choosing to those contestants for their hard work.

And now...for the prompts:

Theme: Death through the mind of Edvard Munch.

"A fundamental element in the art of Edvard Munch is The Frieze of Life, a series of deeply personal, expressive motifs carried out in paintings and graphic works, saturated with existential uneasiness and angst. As a whole these pictures comprise his magnum opus. The themes of Love, Angst and Death are presented in 24 different groups, with Munch's personal notes to the individual motifs." --Munch.museum.no.

I have chosen three from the last part of the controversial exhibit: Death. Your task is to use one or all of these paintings as inspiration for your short story entry. :

Prompt One: Dead Mother & Child

She said she would be leaving them had to leave them - and asked if they would be sad when she was gone - and they had to promise her to abide by Jesus then they would meet her again in heaven.

Prompt Two: Death In Sickroom

Was she really going to die - in the past half-hour she had almost felt better than before - the pains had gone - she tried to get up - gestured towards the armchair beside the bed -

Prompt Three: Sick Child

What I wanted to bring out - is that which cannot be measured - I wanted to bring out the tired movement - in the eyelids - the lips must look as though they are whispering - she must look as though she is breathing - I want life - what is alive

This round's entries:

Congratulations to round 5's winners:
