Having trouble facing diagnosis

Saturday I found out my mother-in-law was diagnosed with multiple myeloma. I'm having a really hard time facing this. My sister-in-law is telling me that we have every reason to be hopeful, but I'm reading that the prognosis is 3-4 or maybe 5-7 years?? I just don't even know how to begin to process this...

Poetry Collection needing readers

I am a cancer survivor. I have a collection of poems inspired by my journey. I would love to have feedback on them because I'm thinking about submitting them for publication. The poems are not all posted - yet - due to portfolio space. But just yesterday some angel gave me a free upgrade, so I plan to post all of them this week.

I saw this forum as I was completing the port raid you won from me, and I'm so glad that I did.

My aunt has been ovarian cancer free for almost two years now. It was so hard watching her go through all of that - all of the pain.

And now they are saying that my grandmother has pancreatic cancer. It's hard to know what to do, and how to help...[Read Full Post]

I lost my sister to cancer 5 years ago next week. My sister's experience is one filled with fear, and pain, but most of all heart felt joy and inner peace that she says she found because of cancer. Hers is a story I am trying to share. I have written a poem

Hello, Sandy. My name is Bud. The word, when put together with a person who identifies such a large part of your life, is always a very scary thing. It is perfectly normal and all right to be as terrified as you feel. Your Sister feels, in different ways, every bit as afraid.

Just this past weekend (December 23) I lost my grandpa to liver cancer. He was diagnosed with it in July and was stage 4 by that time. I am leaving right now for the family service, but it really doesn't seem real to me yet.

Raven,
I'm sorry to hear about your diagnosis but I am glad that you have two things going for you. One is your positive attitude to beat this disease and two is you have found the true meaning of Writing.Com, which is love and support. I wish you the best in your recovery, keep strong and keep writing.

Good for you Raven, writing does help and so does your positive attitude. I'm a cancer survivor too. They told me I had less than a year to live and that was over two years ago. Anything can happen I'm living proof of that. Chemo was rough, but I got through it. WDC really helped me too.
