Hello fellow music nerds!

Well I was just meandering around the site - wasting time really - and happened upon this group - if a group it indeed is. I have been playing the violoncello since I was ten years old, and I realize that is a bit cryptic considering I haven't shared my age, but suffice it to say it has been a couple decades or so. Or whatever. I was offered a schola...[Read Full Post]

Re: Re: Re: Hiya All!

I love the old traditional folk music, but I also like classic! Even jazz! I'm hooked! I love Ashoken Farewell.

I started playing the guitar at 13, self-taught. I tried piano lessons, but depended on my ear too much, so didn't learn the notes well. I wish I would've. I wouldn't mind learning the mountain dulcimer, too, lol!

How cool! How old is your daughter? I think my three year old granddaughter is going to be musically inclined, too. Thanks for the interesting post! I enjoyed hearing about the banjo and the old songs that were passed down by listening and doing. Stories like that tug at my heart strings!

I also play piano and am teaching myself to play bass guitar.

Are you taking lessons or teaching yourself? I just love the violin/fiddle! The more you practice, the better you get, I'll vouch for that! I'm self-taught, but I used to practice between two and four hours everyday.

Thanks for posting!!!

I play all sorts of music, but mostly classical. However, I do like fiddle music. Mostly Irish, Welsh, and other Celtic music though.

A violinist @ heart . . .

My name is Summer's Child and I'm in middle school. I have been playing violin since third grade and continued right up to fifth--it was my first musical instrument. I intended to continue playing into middle school and maybe even high but then we moved, and my rented violin had to be given back. Another blow wa...[Read Full Post]
