    Write Me a Poem following the guidelines below:
Guidelines
 Entries MUST be posted in bitem format: {bitem:881689} for example. Anything else will be disqualified.
Only one entry per person
Poetry must be written with at least one of the following included: (Note: check out "Poetry Terms and Devices"  )
1. allusion
2. metonymy
3. analogy
4. onomatopeia
5. personification
Be sure you tell me in the subject line of your entry which device or devices you are using.
Example: Analogy and onomatopeia
OR
Example: Allusion
But you only have to use one of the devices.
OR
The poem must be written in one of the following forms: (note: check out "Poetry Forms" )
1. The Kyoka
2. The Triad
Be sure you tell me in the subject line of your entry which form you are using.
Example: The Triad
OR
You may use a combination of poetic device(s) and one form.
Be sure you note this in the subject line.
Example: The Kyoka, allusion
NOTE:
Length of poems written in either of the forms is set by the form. Other poetry should be at least eight (8) lines long, but no more than twenty (20) lines.
Material must be relatively new, written after June 1, 2006.
Rate limit 13+, anything higher will be disqualified.
The Awards
1st Place - 50,000 Gift Points and either an awardicon or poetry merit badge
2nd Place - 25,000 Gift Points and an awardicon or poetry merit badge
3rd Place - 10,000 Gift Points and an awardicon or a poetry merit badge
If five (5) or fewer entries are recevied, only one prize will be given. If fewer than three (3) quality entries are received, all prizes may not be awarded. If more than three quality entries are received, honorable mentions may be awarded.
Dates
Begins August 15, 2006
Ends either September 15, 2006
or
when 25 entries, meeting the guidelines, are entered
Winners should be announced no later than September 29.
