POETRY IN RHYME AND RHYTHM CONTEST: Abridged Announcement (For full announcement, see "DETAILED BACKGROUND OF MY POETRY CONTEST" A. AIM, RATIONALE & UNIQUE FEATURE-- The AIM of this contest is to provide a forum for posting poems that reflect excellence in poetry written in proper English following the rules of rhyme and rhythm. The RATIONALE is that structurally well written poetry seems to have been overshadowed by free verse and its variants and needs to be encouraged. The UNIQUE FEATURE, as distinct from most other contests, is that only those poems that have a definite syllabic and rhyme scheme are eligible. B. RULES: 1--ENTRY FEE: You need to review any item of your choice from my port. The review must not be earlier than 7 days prior to submitting your entry. The entry post should include the following sentence-- "I have reiewed the following item.............. towards the entry fee". 2-- There is no prompt. The only requirement is that the poem must follow a definite rhyme and syllabic scheme of the writer's choice . This scheme, or the name of the poetry form (such as, Shakespearean sonnet, ghazal, villanelle etc.), or both, must be mentioned. 3—Only one poem, old or new, per round. 4--A poem can be submitted even if it has been submitted earlier. A poem may be submitted to more than one of my contests. 5. Each round starts and ends with the month. 6. Editing after submission is allowed. However, please note that I judge soon after posting. If you think that the revised form merits higher rating, you must request me to view it again. 7. -- The prize for the best poem: For first 60 rounds-- 10,000 GP From Round 61 onwards--5000 GP The prize amount may be enhanced / divided between winning entries. C. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION 1--. I will be using Cambridge and Random House dictionaries for spelling, syllables, accent etc. In case of conflict, the Cambridge will be decisive. 2--. Donations are solicited and welcome. They can be sent to me directly by sending me a mail and attaching the GP to it. The list of donors is given below. The contributions are listed in the order they are received. Donations are requested to enable me to keep my poetry contests going. I spend 240,000 GP in an year for my contests and need support. 3--.Please post the entry as a bitem link. If not possible, post through any other link or, even, directly in the Forum. 4. Only an entry rated 5 by me will be eligible for winning. All entries rated as 5 stars by me will be subdivided into three categories, 5-, 5 and 5+, along with a 5++ if necessary. Highest scoring entry gets the prize. D--.
