THE KEEPING OF THE SOUL FORUM
In Loving Memory of our beloved Blue Thunder.

The Writing.com Community grieves the passing of a treasured Member,  Blue Thunder.  Her departure from our midst represents an immeasurable and terrible loss for her many friends here ~ and to the Writing.com Community as a whole.  Her talents were innumerable and immense, exceeded only by her gentle nature, thoughtfulness, and unfailing kindness to others.  She caressed so many lives with her words and deeds, and will forever be keenly mourned and missed.

Blue Thunder was of Native American Lakota Sioux heritage, and cherished the Lakota name, Kimimila, bestowed upon her in childhood by her father.  'Kimimila', which means "butterfly", suited her beautifully, for she possessed both a bejewelled spirit and wings with which to soar amoung us.

To reconcile the loss of a loved one to death, the Lakota people practice an ancient Sacred Rite known as "The Keeping of the Soul".  It is by virtue of this rite that unfinished endeavors and aspirations of the dead are resolved, healing and recovery of the departed Spirit is facilitated, and solace, comfort, and tranquility are restored to a mourning community.

This Forum has been created to serve a like purpose for Blue Thunder ~ and the Writing.com Community she regarded as family and treasured so dearly.  It remains a work in progress, with additional content to be added in the days to come.  For now, all visitors are invited to post their thoughts and prayers below, and to include the Sigs that follow in their e-mail signatures or wherever they wish to memorialize 'Kimimila' and keep her memory alive.

May the Great Spirit watch over and protect you always, Kimimila.   You are free to soar with the eagles now; released from the fetters of earth and safe forevermore in His loving embrace.
