Featured in the January 10, 2007 Contest Newsletter! Great thanks to the editor. The whole goal of this contest is to write a story fitting the specific genre, but excluding the stereotypical things everyone thinks of when they hear the name of that genre. Are you up for the challenge? Can you skirt around the stereotypical and still make your writing shine? Here's the time to try! Contest Rules 1. Your entry needs to be a new item written for this contest! You should not adapt older pieces to fit this one. It should be a brand new idea. 2. Your entry does not need to have a specific rating. All ratings are allowed in this contest. Your post, item name, and item description, however, have to adhere to the 18+ rating of this forum. 3. Your entry must be submitted with a bitem link. If you are uncertain as to how to link an item using the bitem code, check out this link: "The illustrated guide to linking" 4. You may only enter once every month. 5. Please make the title of your post Entry:Name of your Item, where, of course, you replace "Name of your Item" with the name of your item. This helps me distinguish the entries from the questions when it comes time to submit. 6. Only static items: short stories are eligible for entry. 7. Post Questions and Entries in the forum. We will answer your questions as quickly as we can. 8. Use of "substitutes" for the forbidden words will make your score lower. We will not disqualify you unless you use the exact words, but stories with substitute words for the forbidden ones will score lower than stories that exclude them completely, which is what we are looking for. 9. Your entry must follow the genre AND must not include the forbidden words. If you do not use the forbidden words in a genre different than what is posted, it makes it too easy. The whole point is to break the stereotype of that genre. 10. Have fun!
