Do you ever wish you could get more done on your writing projects? Do you want REALLY thorough reviews? Do you want to set weekly goals for writing and get positive support to meet those goals? Do you want to set yourself up for public scrutiny? (just kidding on the last one.)
YOU'RE IN THE RIGHT PLACE!
The purpose of this group is to encourage weekly writing by holding group discussion on weekly submissions for the fantasy/sci-fi genres. This meeting would probably run about an hour on a weekday afternoon, which means you could conveniently fit it into a lunch hour or other free moment, but the timing of this meeting will be adjusted due to the schedules of those who are interested.
Scheduling:
This is the second time I've tried running this meeting, so I'd like to re-list scheduling. If you're interested in participating, feel free to post or email a schedule that would be most convenient to you. Thanks! The current meeting schedule is for thursday, 6:00pm wdc time.
The meeting should run about an hour, and will be in a writing.com chat window titled 'Maugh's Writing Group.' which will be set up about 15 minutes before the meeting time.
Agenda
In the meeting we will do the following things:
First, we will set and review our weekly and/or daily goals, trying to find writing goals that work for each individual.
Second, report on our progress, (how we're doing on those goals.)
Third, and most important, we will discuss samples of the weeks work.
Rules of Participation
These samples will be due the Monday before each meeting, so that people have plenty of time to go over submitted pieces. I will be posting deadlines on a weekly basis.
Writing to be reviewed can be posted below, in ritem or bitem format.
Submissions from any genre are welcome, although the group will be geared toward fantasy and science fiction.
Older pieces are also welcome, although the group will be geared toward forward progress, so it would be beneficial to the writer to submit their current work.
Please keep the entries under 3000 words, so that the people reading will have time to review them. There will be no minimum length, and we'd be glad to discuss concepts, future ideas, or even first lines and titles if that's what you want reviewed.
Please be prepared to courteously discuss the submitted projects, especially if you want your own work reviewed and discussed. Spamming, discourtesy and discouragement will not be tolerated.
I will give rewards in the form of gp's to those who are particularly helpful and constructive in this process, and post a report of what we accomplished after each meeting.
