Thank you StephB 38K for NaNoWriMo for the lovely awardicon that graces our little forum!
Writing.Com is a global community as evident from the numerous members from all parts of the world. It's a pleasure stopping into a port and seeing a writer from a country you're not familiar with, and getting to learn the various cultures, societies and most especially their style of writing.
The aim of this project/contest is to celebrate and promote the writings from other nations, not just from the United States (since WDC is based here, it's not surprising to find that a majority of its members are from this side of the world). We hope to see more writers step out and proudly state what part of the world they come from and share one thing or another with the rest of us.
HOW DOES THIS WORK?
It's simple! This will be a bi-monthly contest where writers will be required to submit a poem, a short story, and an essay or article with a given theme that BEST represents a country/nation.
Members willing to participate should leave a message or post with their name and country of representation in the header. Example: STEVE - ENGLAND.
A list will be made and displayed below where members of each country will be added.
It is recommended that each group forms a 'TEAM GROUP/FORUM' since this contest will require such team effort. Once there are at least three people in the group, you're welcome to choose a group leader who will receive emails from me in regards to monthly themes or other news.
CONTEST RULES:
At the beginning of the month, a new prompt/challenge will be given. Entry should be written in English, but should incoporate aspects of your culture/society/country of origin in relation to the prompt.
Each team must present ONE POEM, ONE SHORT STORY and ONE ESSAY/ARTICLE, at the end of the month, preferably from different members of the group. In other words, you have one month to discuss, polish and make sure your story is ready for presentation. Entries must be specifically written for this contest. Exceptions will be made for teams with less than three (active) members who can only submit one item.
Poetry should be no longer than 40 lines. Short Stories and Essays/Articles no more than 3,000 words. Word count MUST be placed in item.
All entries must NOT exceed the 18+ rating.
When ready to submit an entry, the header should be along the lines of: TEAM USA - POETRY ENTRY.
IMPORTANT! After the deadline, you CANNOT edit your entry or it will be disqualifed. No excuses accepted.
