An anthology of speculative fiction from WDC's own authors.

This anthology will be published on http://www.createspace.com and listed on http://www.Amazon.com, as a not-for-profit paperback (see the bottom for more details).

What we are looking for:

Speculative fiction in the form of...

Short stories and flash fiction (300 - 7,500 words)

Poetry (40 lines maximum)

That must be:

Any genre of speculative fiction. ie: any story that attempts to answer, directly or indirectly, the question 'what if'?

Publication ready (or very near). We are not looking for stories that need a lot of editing. Please revise before submitting.

Your own, original work.

What you get (if your story is chosen):

Your story published in the Farspace Anthology on Createspace / Amazon.com where you, your family or friends (or anyone!) can buy it.

To retain all rights to your story (However, authors must sign a document stating we have rights to publish their work in this anthology)

Publicity in the world outside of WDC

Your choice of: a merit badge, 10k GPs, or an awardicon

How to submit:

If you are interested in submitting a story for inclusion in the anthology (all rights remain yours) please post in the forum below with a {bitem:} link to your item.

The deadline for submissions is December 31, 2007

Multiple submissions are allowed but please, no more than 1 per post and ~~no more than 1 per month~~ (i.e: a total of 4) of any type (ie: short stories or poems--4 of each are allowed)

How does this work (or, how do I know this isn't a scam)?

A very good question and one that should always be asked.

Simply put:

1) we ask for no money, now or ever

2) we make no money (calculations listed below), the purchase price of the book is calculated from the Createspace printing costs+Amazon commission and we add 0% royalty for ourselves.

3) you retain all rights to your story (we only ask for permission to publish it in our anthology)

4) you have the right to withdraw your story from the anthology at any time prior to publication.

5) we're all WDC members like you, who simply want to provide an avenue for publication of short fiction (all editorial members are listed on the "Farspace Anthology Group"

page, so you know who we are).

$ 3.15 createspace fixed charge
$ 4.00 createspace charge per page ($0.02/page) assuming a 200 page book
$ 3.06 30% of list price to Amazon for listing the book with ISBN

Please note that the list price will change depending on the exact number of pages. We will always update this page with the latest information, however.
