Thank you to my bestest WDC friend Jace--An ORANGE NaNo'er for the beautiful yellow awardicon to commemorate Make Me Laugh's first birthday. Thank you, Jace.

Your task is simple--if your entry makes me laugh more than the others, you win!

With all the tragedy in the world today we could all use an extra smile, right? Welcome to the "Make Me Laugh" contest, but I don't want just any old stuff--no knock-knock or dumb blonde jokes here. I want the real deal, people! I want good old-fashioned comedy. Make me laugh!

CONTEST RULES:

Due to a decrease in entries over the past several months, this contest now runs semimonthly: 6:00 p.m. WDC time on the 1st - 6:00 p.m. on the 15th, then again from 6:00 p.m. on the 15th - 6:00 p.m. on the last day of every month. I will have the winners posted within a week of round closing.

Each entry must be written by the person posting it.

Each entry must be posted in the forum in bitem format. If you don't know how, please refer to "Invalid Item"

Each entry must be no more than 1000 words and word count must be listed somewhere on your entry or it will be disqualified.

Although comedy quality is my primary concern in this contest, format and grammar will be taken into consideration. For instance, if two stories are tied for first place and one is gramatically correct while the other isn't, the one that is gramatically correct will win first place.

Essays, short stories and prose ONLY. Everything else will be disqualified. Please refer to "What's Acceptable?"

I am not easily offended, so any rating is OK in this contest, but the title and intro must be E rated.

One entry per person per round, please.

Your entry need not be newly written for this contest. As long as it falls within the rules listed above and hasn't already received an awardicon feel free to enter it.

You may edit your entry as many times as you like prior to judging, but once judging begins no further editing will be allowed. Any entries edited after judging begins will be disqualified.

Donations will NOT be accepted from current contest participants.

If there are fewer than 5 entries per round the deadline will be extended for two more weeks. If there are fewer than 10 QUALIFIED entries per round only 1st place will be awarded.

All decisions are final.

PRIZES

1st Place: Merit Badge AND 25k Blue Awardicon

2nd Place: Merit Badge OR 10k Red Awardicon (winner's choice) + 5,000 GPs

3rd Place: Merit Badge OR 10k Yellow Awardicon (winner's choice)

Every piece will receive 1000 gift points just for entering!

Each qualified entry will receive an indepth review of his/her work. For now all qualified entries will be read and reviewed by yours truly, but should I receive gazillions of entries I will seek the assistance of a guest judge(s) to keep things running smoothly and on time.

Donations are not only welcome but encouraged!

Donations of 25k or more will receive a Merit Badge for generosity.
