Come, darlings, step into my shadows, deepen my nightmares, and revel in the things that go bump in the night!  I bid you to take a look inside and share your darkest fears.  Make them my reality.



The Rules:

  Opens July 15th, 2011 and closes September 15th, 2011 @ 11:59 pm WDC (Eastern Standard) Time.

  This contest is for short stories only.

  All ratings are allowed.  Items must be sumbitted in bItem format.  If you are unsure of how to do this, check out this excellent tutorial. "BITEM FORMAT - Made Easy" .  If you cannot enter because of space issues in your portfolio, feel free to e-mail me, and I will try to work something out.

  Minimum word count of 1000 and a maximum of 20,000.  Please include your total.

  Stories must be newly created to qualify.  Anything with a creation date before July 15th, 2011 will not be considered.

  One entry per author only.  Give me your best!



The Judging:


  Stories will be judged based on originality and good ol' "scare factor."  Gory doesn't necessarily mean scary in my opinion.  Think hard and come up with something that will make the hair on the back of my neck stand on end!

  Hey now, these prizes aren't cheap!  Please take the time to proofread your work.  While I am most concerned about content, technical errors will play a role in judging as well.  You may edit your story as many times as you like until the contest ends. Any editing done after closing and before results are announced will result in disqualification.

  All entries will be read and commented on.

  Please allow two weeks for judging.  Winners will be announced no later than October 5th, 2011.


The Prizes:

Grand Prize:   Plaque (winner's choice of shape) 75,000 Gps, and a horror merit badge.

1st Place:  75k ribbon (winner's choice of color) 50,000 Gps, and a horror merit badge

2nd Place:  50k ribbon (winner's choice of color) 30,000 Gps, and a horror merit badge

3rd Place:  25k ribbon (winner's choice of color) 20,000 Gps, and a horror merit badge

I may even decide to dole out a few surprise honorable mentions!
