Have you ever felt anger over the abuse you are suffering or have suffered? Being able to feel anger over abuse is a good thing. It can get you out of that abusive situation. It is a motivating force to push you into taking action to distance yourself from that situation. Anger's ability to motivate is never stronger than situations in which people feel they have been put down unjustly, and that they have a right to take action to get away from that scene. Anger over the situation is a lot better than the feeling of hopelessness.

I know many of you have suffered abuse of one form or another. It is a road that we wished we had not had to travel but we did through no fault of our own. The memories and the fears linger for years, interrupt our sleep at night and cause panic attacks not to mention a host of other related problems.

Abuse used to be an avoided topic.  Until recently most instances of abuse were seen as personal issues that outsiders had no business getting involved in. For an example, it was widely accepted that parents had the right to discipline their children as they saw fit and no one could legitimately say otherwise. Today, this attitude of secrecy has changed, and much of the abuse taboo has worn away. People are now willing to talk about the abuse they have been through and society as a whole is more willing to intervene to protect the abuse victim. Especially when those victims are children.

The good news is that there is plenty of help and resources to go to. Places where you can seek peace, be safe and know that others feel your pain. Its hard to deal with alone and you don't have to. We are here for you, so please contact anyone of us in this group, or check out our list of resources. If you are so inclined join us in our walk, we'd love to have you!

Please check out this magnificent site that I found about child abuse and listen to the songs. "Wake-Up! Stop Child Abuse Charity" has an official site on MySpace now. By the way some of us entered the "Under A Shadow" Contest and won so some of our poems ended up on this newsletter! Isn't that exciting and I think congratulations are in order! I read some of the poems and listened to some of the songs and enjoyed being counted as part of this movement against child abuse.
