This contest is inspired by the traditional themes of the elements - water, fire, earth, and air. Each round will feature a challenge incorporating one of the elements into the writing prompt. Your mission, should you choose to accept it, will be to write the best piece of fiction involving that element.
PROMPT
Round 20: Water
"Filthy water cannot be washed." - West African Proverb
Use this proverb to inspire you to write a poem or short story. Because November is a NaNoWriMo I've extended the contest to the end of the month.
Round ends Sunday, November 29th at 11:59 PM (WDC time).
RULES
All writing.com cases are welcome to enter!
Poetry and Short Stories are accepted. Nothing over 45 lines of poetry or 2500 words, please.
Keep entries GC or below. All forum posts must be E rated. Editing will be allowed up until 11:59 PM (WDC time) of deadline. Please use this time to fine tune entries.
Old and new entries are allowed as long as they stick to the prompt.
All entires should be posted in BITEM format. If you do not have room in your port feel free to email the static to me. Here's a link on how to use BITEM: "Bitem Format Linking"
One entry per person per round.
PRIZES
[Prizes vary each round depending on the amount of donations given.]
First Place will receive a Merit Badge of my choice or 10,000 gps. Please, indicate which in forum post.
Second Place will receive 5,000 gps.
Third Place will receive 2,500 gps.
Honorable Mentions will be selected at my discretion with an award of 1000 gps. (Max of three)
BONUS: After every elemental cycle (four rounds, two months) I will award the best piece describing the elements a Ribbon worth 10,000 gps. All winners, including Honorable Mentions, will be considered.
Donations, big or small, will be accepted with appreciation as they expand the pot for bigger prizes. Anyone who donates 35,000 GPs or more will receive a Merit Badge and my eternal gratitude.
