THE SHOOTING RANGE

         Welcome one and all to the reviewing headquarters of Writing.Com’s toughest critic, Bennington . This is a shooting range. Which side of the fire you end up on is up to me.

         Submit your stuff in bitem format. If you don’t know what that is, then leave. Now.

         I do pretty much anything. Just no novels. If you really want a review of your novel, email me about it. any reviews for parts or whole novels in the forum will be ignored.

         I'll tear into it and if I like it, I'll keep a tab and reward some GPs. Tell your friends.

         Well, here's what my review will do.

My opinion is reflected in the rating. I assume a piece is a 3 of 5 to begin with, then detract or add from that as I go.

Then comes:

Advice on grammar, spelling, punctuation and mechanics: I usually tackle this first because it's usually fairly glaring.

Advice on style: This is next easiest to tackle.

Advice on content: This is kind of a combo of talking about what I thought of the piece overall, what I thought of your "poignancy factor", and what I thought of the subject matter.

         I see no reason to argue with me. If I think your writing is the worst piece of trash I’ve read since the back of the cereal box this morning, I don’t care if you disagree. You probably will disagree. That’s on you. I don’t want to hear excuses and explanations.

A LOT OF PEOPLE WRITE. ONLY A FEW OF THEM ARE GOOD AT IT.
