This month I am going to try something new. Use one of these as your inspiration.

What is magical realism?

Is a form of fantasy.

Magic realism was at first a form of art that came about in the 20s.

And grew into this....

The art influenced literature in Europe and Latin America.

Elements magical realism of fantasy and reality are merged to create a credible, yet imaginative story. Magic isn't only or mainly. by witches who do spells, or something HUGE, it's normal, small, common. Magic is a fact.

Big Fish, Like Water for Chocolate, Big, are movies that are considered magic realism.

In magic realism we find the transformation of the common and the everyday into the awesome and the unreal, such as wall paper that changes from your mood.

Magic realism can be confused with urban fantasy. In urban fantasy, a wizard walks into a bar. In magic realism, the drink has magical properties; usually something not too showy. Like, he would not turn into a rabbit, but he might see them where he has never seen them before and because of this, his life is changed.

Traits that make up magical realism:

The acceptance of supernatural events

Admiration of mysterious events.

A reawakening of a child's view of reality.

Rich sensory experiences.

Respect for folklore.

Often, the story takes place within the last 70 years.

Often, the story has a romantic tone to it and a love story.
