April 22, 2009 was a sorrowful day for my family. On April 20, we learned that the baby we had been so hoping for was gone. The very day we were supposed to find out the sex of the child, we also found out that he'd been dead in my womb for some time. Labor was induced, and he was born just a few days later - a precious little one that never got the opportunity to breathe fresh air.

Despite the tragedy, I count my blessings. None of us were bitter - we believe that there is a reason for everything. God's will be done, and if he wanted this child, then he may have him. I will get to meet him, hold him, and coddle him once we meet again. (And I won't even have to change diapers!) Despite his death, he brought me great joy in my life.

I got to feel him move.
My children got to feel him move.
Our family became closer.
Our faith became stronger.

... even if my heart and arms felt empty for a time.

We got the opportunity to want and love the small boy, even if he could only grace our lives for a few moments. He was an ounce and a half, he had all of his fingers and toes, and his eyes were just starting to open. Appropriately, I think, we named him Angel. His middle name, Davis, is my father's middle name. He so wanted to be there, but could not come.

In Loving Memory

I don't want the thought of my son's name to remain a tragedy, however. In honor of the memory of my son, I'd like this community to band together and give as many thoughtful, thorough, polite, and constructive reviews as possible. There won't be any "rules" or "guidelines"... just this forum to support and cheer on all of those who wish to take that challenge.
