Dialogue about Domestic Violence to increase Awareness, Education, & Understanding

This site is still being developed but please go ahead and take part.

Some basic rules, though, just in case someone posts before I get this forum description like I want it:

1. Please be as considerate and understanding as possible when responding to posts.

2. Please be as honest as possible as to your experiences so as not to give a false
sense of security to those who may be planning to leave a domestic abuse situation.
Many women are harmed in the process of leaving so they need accurate details of
how other women successfully left relationships and even how some did not plan
quite as well or plans were thwarted in some way and learned lessons from their
experiences.

3. Please remember that this IS NOT a hotline and I am not acting in the role of a
licensed therapist and do not have any way to get help to you nor would I know how
to find out your address or phone number other than to check with Storymaster/
Storymistress and that would take entirely too long to be of help.  For emergencies,
please consult the DV Hotline.

4. I will refrain from giving specific advice because I cannot know someone's specific
situation, laws in their area, etc.  but I will be happy to share website information, good
book suggestions, etc if asked.

5. I am not planning to act as moderator here, but rather to give a "room" for someone
to share their experiences and advice.  However, if someone is particularly nasty or
inconsiderate, I will address this issue with WDC moderators after asking nicely for
the person to refrain from such comments.  There's enough abuse out there without
getting it on a writing website.

6. Most of all, try to put yourself in other's shoes for a moment when you read what
is written.  Feel free to comment on any of the poetry in my DV folder or post links
to other helpful poetry on WDC or elsewhere.

To sum it up, Be Honest, Be Considerate, Be Safe.

Thank you for participating.
