SUBMISSION GUIDELINES
1. One previously unpublished short story per author. Send us your best.
2. Any genre except erotica or romance.
3. Word Count: 2,000-5,000
4. Submission Fee: ZERO
5. Deadline: September 15, 2011 (Midnight U.S. EST)

JUDGING CRITERIA
We want a fun, interesting, compelling story, of course, and we love characters that live and breathe on the page.  However, we also want at least an intermediate level of writing. If spelling and basic punctutation are poor, we won't read further. We'll make some allowances for grammar. We particularly like bold, evocative prose: little or no passive voice, limited state-of-being verbs, limited adverbs and adjectives, lots of strong/visual nouns and verbs, dialogue that moves the story forward without a bunch of weak, excessive tags.
