Halloween Scary Story Contest


Do you have a favorite Scary story? One your family use to tell around the campfire or at Halloween? Is it considered a family heirloom passed down for generations or just your own version of the classic tales that have been around the block with everyones family year after year?

The Challenge

Pretend your family is having a family reunion for Halloween and all of the kids ages 8 to 18 are staying at your house and expecting a scary bedtime story. You must take a ghost or scary story your family has told over and over again and rewrite it. It has to be scary enough the 18 year olds almost believe it but not so scary the 8 year olds will stay awake all night out of fear of the monster or ghost in the story. Hard line to write I know. But, my family has a story like that. Im sure yours does too.

Take that story and rewrite it in your own words. Embelish it anyway you like. It can be one the whole world has heard like the Ape in the closet of a hotel room, or Bloody Mary... Or one like the Ghost Panther that my family tells that isn't so well known. But whatever you write, you have to make it your own. The judges will be my Five kids still at home. They age from 10 to 17. The one they all like the best will be the winner.

Rules:

Must be acceptable for all age groups

No more than 2500 words




First Place - Awardicon, Merit Badge and 10k in gift points.
Second Place - Merit badge and ten tickets to the "Elven Tea Garden Holiday Raffle" 
Third Place - ten tickets to "Elven Tea Garden Holiday Raffle" 

Second and third place prizes will only be awarded if we have more than three entries


Contest is open till October 29th. Winners will be announced on November 1st.
