Many people on this site seek in depth reviews which are sometimes hard to come across on this site unless you are part of a group, and even then, you might want some outside perspectives after a while. In any case, this review forum is for in depth and detailed reviews of poetry of all kinds.


Cost and Requirements
FREE. If you like or find the review helpful, I ask only that you review a piece in my portfolio, but it is not required.
No limit on length or style. Longer pieces might just take a bit longer to review.
Please post in bitem or item format ({bitem:#########} or {item:#########}). I wont go hunting for a piece in your portfolio.


My Reviewing and Rating Style
I am excessively blunt and tend to point out only the really good and the things that I think can be improved. If I don't comment on it, it's normally because I think it's fine the way it is - the less I say is normally a compliment! If you can't handle a review that might not point out every good thing, this forum is probably not for you.

I will comment on technical things, from grammar to the use of poetic devices, to the cadence of each word. I will also comment on anything that might just "rub me wrong", and I might not have a good explanation for these comments, but I will try my best.

For rating, it's exactly as it is described.

I generally only give a 1 if the grammar is horrendous and the poem was akin to that of a 3-year-old. I have never given a rating this low before, but it doesn't mean I wont.

A 2 is a poem that has multiple error, contains excessive cliches, is boring with no new insights or descriptions, or is just generally off. This is what I consider below average.

A 3 is average. This means I probably wouldn't expect it to be published, but it's on par with what most people write on this site.

A 4 is above average. This is a poem I generally like with minimal comments and suggestions to it, at many suggestions but about minor things.

If I give you a 5, it's because I'm shocked that the poem has not been published. I will truly connect and love everything about it. I have given only 2-3 5-star ratings while on this site, and I favorite all of them. I don't give 5's often.

All reviews will be public and contain a signature for this forum.
Please post in bitem or item format - I will NOT review poems that are just posted in the body of the post.
I will give all reviews hopefully in 24 hours, but never longer than 3 days. I will email you personally if I need more time for whatever reason.



All I ask in return is that if you truly find the review helpful that you return the favor with one of my pieces. At any time, I may have most of my pieces hidden because I am trying to publish them, so in that case, I ask that you just pass it on, perhaps to another person in the forum.
