Ordinary Horrors Contest
Special holiday round - the object of horror is an ornament.

Avg Rating: (62)

Write a horror story using an ordinary object as the focus of evil. I am not looking for pure gore, let the readers use their imaginations. This contest is in the tradition of authors such as Stephen King and Dean Koontz. They take an everyday occurrence, or item, and manipulate it to terrify their readers.

Be as outrageous as you'd like. As long as you scare me, you'll be a contender for the prizes!

I know you need structure so here are the rules:

1. Keep the rating 18+ or less.

2. Entries must be less than 3000 words. Sorry poets, this is a stories only contest. Please put a word count at the bottom of your story so I don't have to count.

3. Deadline is December 31st. Depending on the number of entries, I should have the winners posted by January 15th.

4. Link your entries to the forum using the b-item format. (WritingML Help for b-item) Any entries directly posted in the forum will be deleted.

5. Entries must be newly written for this contest.

6. While you may enter as many times as you wish for each prompt, only one prize will be awarded per member.

7. You may edit your entries until the deadline as I won't read them until after the deadline has passed.

8. If you have any questions email me or post them in the forum.
