The purpose of this forum is to make people smile... brighten their days!

This is done by sending out
awardicons
merit badges
community notes
raffle tickets
costumicons
contest (and other item) fees
one-week item sponsoring
group donations
and the occasional upgrade

You can come here to request someone to receive (most of) the above types of smiles.

Here is how you do it:

AWARDICONS:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the item (not in your own portfolio) you wish to see awarded (If you need help, ask!)

a message to be included with the awardicon. This will be used, with your name, as a description attached to the awardicon.

a suggested title and award color (OPTIONAL)

all awardicons sent are valued at 10,000 Gift Points. To see a more expensive one sent, you must send in the difference.

ONLY items without awardicons may be requested

(Note: The last rule will not be enforced when the group is being used to send an anonymous gift if the full Gift Point cost is sent.)


MERIT BADGES:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the port of the person (not yourself) you wish to see with the merit badge (If you need help, ask!)

a message to include with the merit badge. This will be used exactly as written.

the type of merit badge you wish to see sent.

merit badges will only be sent out if the individual hasn't been sent one OF THAT TYPE in the PAST YEAR. (Exception: A Reviewing, Problem Solving, or Generosity merit badge may be sent if the individual has one from Writing.Com Support already, but not if the individual has one from any other member.)

(Note: This rule will not be enforced when the group is being used to send an anonymous gift if the full Gift Point cost is sent.)


COMMUNITY NOTES:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the portfolio of the person (not yourself) you wish to see get the community note.

a message to be included with the community note.
For more information, see "IMPORTANT note about messages included with smiles!"  .

the category of community you wish sent OR a link to a community note shop where you pick the exact community note you wish to see sent

Community notes will be sent anonymously with your name attached.


RAFFLE TICKETS:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the portfolio of the person (not yourself) you wish to see get the raffle ticket(s)

a link to the item where the raffle ticket can be purchased

the number of tickets to be purchased (up to 10,000 Gift Points worth)

a message to be sent in an email to the recipient of the raffle ticket.

COSTUMICONS:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the portfolio of the person (not you) that you wish to see with a costumicon subscription

a message to be sent in an email to the person receiving the costumicon

ITEM FEES:
Fees will be paid to the contest (or other item) owner.
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the contest or other item you wish to see participation in.

a link to the individual or item that would be entering the contest, review room, etc.

Unlike the rest of the SMILE types, you can make a request for YOU to receive an item fee through this group! Of course, you can still request it for someone else (instead or in addition.)

a message to include to the individual whom fees will be paid for

ONE-WEEK ITEM SPONSORING:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the item you wish to see sponsored (not your own). Please be sure the item was not sponsored by the group in the last three months. You can view the sent list here: "Send-A-Ribbon/Send-A-Smile Sent List" .

the genre or item type you wish to see the item sponsored in. (All items will be sponsored at 400 GPs per click, so they will appear on the side bar, on top of IMs, and in other special places in addition to the genre or item type list selected.)

a message to include in an email to the author of the item being sponsored

GROUP DONATIONS:
Make a forum post* stating the following:
a link to the group you want a donation sent to (not your own). The same group can receive more than one donation, but not in the same month.

a requested amount of gift points to be sent, along with a brief description of what the gift points will be used for.

a message to the group's owner. For more information, see "IMPORTANT note about messages included with smiles!"  .

NOTE: It is possible that not every request for group donations will be filled.


UPGRADES:
You CANNOT request that anyone receives an upgrade. They will be sent (rarely) at "Send-A-Ribbon/Send-A-Smile" 's discretion.




*NOTE: Anonymous requests are accepted. If you wish for a smile to be sent withOUT your name attached, please follow all the rules above, but instead of posting in the forum, email me!


Secret Pals: As stated on "Secret Pal Initiation Room(TEMP CLOSED)"   [E] by Sherri :
If you use another group, please make a generous donation (cover the cost of the badge and a little extra) to the group and try to email the owner privately instead of posting on the message board, as the posting gives away your identity in case your pal has the same idea!

So, if you are looking to send something to your Secret Pal, you must make a donation to the group that matches the price of the item being sent.
