Just thought I'd throw my two cents worth into the discussion. On the surface death for child predators seems like a no-brainer. I'm not against the death penalty, but it does seem an easy out. A person willing to destroy a childs life for a moment of sick self pleasure probably does not care about themselves that much anyway. Then there is the problem of severity of offense. Should we put flashers to death? Should we put minors to death? Is a minor at age seventeen years eleven months and twenty eight days less guilty than an eighteen years and one day?

The system we have now has evolved and changed over the years trying to be as fair as possible to everyone. It errs on the lenient side. It is an advarsarial tool that can be manipulated in many ways. It favors the rich and well to do. Other countries have harsher laws and punishments. We have all read of Islamic daughters being stoned to death for what we would consider normal behavior, or at least not death penalty offenses.

Personally I would have no trouble pulling the switch on a child predator, but I would have to be personally convinced it was the right thing in that particular instance. I'm sure you are not ready to put that responsibility in my hands alone.
