for all of us. I don't know if anybody still checks this or not but thought I would still post 2 new poems I finally got onto the comp.
"I Once Was."
I was once a girl.
A quiet,
unremarkable,
vulnerable
girl.
A girl who hid
behind words.
A girl who hid
behind silence.
A girl who was
all soft edges and fantasy.
She never uttered
an unkind word,
never cried,
and always
hid.
That girl is no longer me.
I have grown.
I have become
a warrior,
a proud voice of opinions,
a woman who is
soft velvet
and hard wire.
My edges are rough
and I’m proud to say
I’m imperfect.
You don’t like what you see?
You wish I was still that girl?
That girl I used to be?
Too bad.
I have moved on.
I have forgotten that girl
and all her sorrow.
And now there is,
me.
"The One I Run To"
You had me
the moment you looked at me
looked at me with those eyes
those eyes
they captured my soul,
they stole my heart,
and caught my breath.
It’s been so long,
so long,
since I’ve called you mine.
A year has passed,
that whole time
I couldn’t help but think of you
as mine.
The fire has raged around us
but when we came together
the rest never really seemed to matter.
You were always there
when the waters roared,
when the sky fell,
when my heart broke.
You’ve always been there.
You were the only one,
the one who put me back together,
the one who held my hand
and said it would all be fine.
You’ve always been my secret,
my angel that no one knew about,
my hope when all the world turned it’s back,
my strength when I was about to give up,
my courage when I had to do the right thing,
but most of all
you were always,
always my weakness.
You are,
you have,
you will always be
the one person I can never,
never say no to.
You are my strength.
You are my weakness.
You have my heart.
You know my mind.
You have my body.
Come hell
or high water,
you will always be the one,
the one I run to.
