First, and most important, I want to express how grateful I am to be a part of this group. I depend on personal contact to thrive, and look forward to conversations with extraordinary people whose views of the world are as open as mine. Second, I must confess, I suck as a writer. I believe I have a talent for telling a great story, but lack the grammatical background to clean it up. I have been writing stories in my head for as long as I can remember, but the fear of rejection held me back from putting fingers to the keyboard. Now I am a 29 year-old mother of one with a BA in Social Work, an Elementary Teaching license for the state of North Carolina, and two courses away from a Masters in Education. Most of my extended schooling was completed while working full time and caring for my young son. After seeing how much I can accomplish, I am being pulled back to my first passion, telling a great story. My spare time is short, and my expertise lacking, but I have all the desire and drive in the world to really so this. My eyes are on the prize! I have two fabulous characters swimming in my head, yearning to be released on the page, aloud to finally meet each other and live happily ever after. I have a setting you would be crazy to not adore, and a plot with as many twists and turns as the roller coaster I met my husband on, 8 years ago. All I need now is support, understanding, borrowed confidence, and a nudge in the direction of success. A set of buffers right above the cliffs of procrastination would also help. I am also willing to give all I can to help those sharing the same dream as mine. After all, if there was no support, great books would sit on thumb drives to be enjoyed only by their creator. As I said, I suck at writing, but I know what I like, and it tends to end up on the New York Times best seller list, after I read it. I am also a huge Stephanie Meyer fan, adoring her books slightly less than the story of how she created, and then published them. After reading her first book “Twilight” last year, I joined W.com and started to dream my dream of writing again. Hopefully this gives you a little insight about me. I look forward to getting to know you as well, and enjoying a few great stories along the way. With Love, Ann |
