The nice thing about editing is your character will always have a possibility for a return. If this will speed you to your word count then that's a good thing.
My story will most likely undergo such a massive alteration it may not be recognizable. I have a strong sensation it won't be a one book novel, at least I will have the entire plot written out along with the complete story line.
When I'm finished with NaNo I will put it in the Novel Workshop and allow everyone to tear it apart. They love doing that, so do I.
