Entry 5/16: Nobody's But Our Own
Theirs was an unnatural love. Everyone around them did little to shield their disdain for such an abomination of unity. The onlookers had no right to cast judgment, nor cage the love that grew deeper and deeper with each passing moment.

As the two would travel out and about, disgusted peers would shout atrocities such as, ‘Don’t flaunt your passion so carelessly, there are youth around’ or ‘Keep your affection out of the light of the sun’. There were many more awful slurs that began to sprout up, until soon it was almost unbearable to be seen in public.

When one would get discouraged, the other would be strong by saying something comforting like, “It’s no one’s business but ours alone. Who are they to say who we can and can’t enjoy?” These words of encouragement let them both know that they weren’t in it alone. All true deep-rooted relationships have a common understanding that the two are not in any situation by themselves, but have a teammate to assist in difficult times.

As time elapsed, the hurtful words of others seemed less and less bothersome as the two grew closer. Eventually, more relationships similar to theirs began to spring up among the community. Those couples were also uninhibited by the naysayers’ responses to apparent ignorant revelry. It seemed as though the two were strong enough to let others be open with whom they chose in life.

Seeing an influx in seemingly otherworldly relationships spring up led some of the more weak-minded hate mongers to become accepting. Before long, even the most hardened of bigots had released their grudges.

“Stapler?”

“Yes Calculator?”

“We did good, didn’t we?”

“Yes. Yes we did.”

Years after the onset of their journey, Stapler and Calculator were able to enjoy each other’s company freely.
