Well, as I sat with my kids viewing the movie "Hitch" for the third, or maybe the fourth, time this morning--I know I've seen the movie at least once (and maybe twice) before, many months ago; I watched just the second half last night and I reviewed the first half this morning before walking away for a bit, but I eventually came back and sat down to watch the rest, once more--I thought about what a great guy Will Smith seems to be. I just thought of all the qualities he appears to have and the qualities a 'great guy' might possess. Will... let's see... he's got that walk. When I see certain male celebs walk like that, I can't help but feel like somehow they earned that strut. His voice alone is enviable; it's deep, calm, soothing, and, yes, (How else can I put it?) seductive. He dresses nice. He seems to be a caring father; he did re-write "Just the Two of Us" for his son, after all. And he also seems to have no trouble whatsoever making fun of himself; right now I am recalling with virtual glee that scene in which he had an allergic reaction to the Coquille St-Jacques (which he referred to instead as "Death on a leaf"), and I recall that in perhaps every episode of "The Prince of Bel-Air" he allowed himself to appear quite foolish in some way, just for the sake of making his audience laugh at him. And Kevin James is just hilarious... and a surprisingly good dancer!
Of course, you'll notice that above I use words like appears and seems a lot. Because my impression of these men is, of course, limited, since I have never known them personally or even talked with them in person. Further limiting my ability to make accurate judgments about them is the fact that, beyond what I've read in the tabloids or heard on the radio, I can only base my impressions of the men on the characters that they've played and not on their off-screen personalities and behaviors.
So, with these things in mind, at least as a starting point, I ask you to share with me who you believe to be the most romantic male celebrities, and a little about why you feel this way. I plan to eventually use the results I get to help me create a multiple-question, multiple-choice vote to come up with a short list of the most romantic male celebrities. In other words, from the responses to this "Preview" which I hope to receive, I will choose a list of nominees for the final ballot, based on my own judgments and with the help of your individual knowledge and the reasons with which you justify your choice or choices.
I guess it's easier to conduct a survey like this about men, because they usually play the romantic roles--at least in Hollywood, if not in real life--and I expect (pessimistically so, perhaps) that more women are willing to discuss their choices for the most romantic men than men would be to discuss the most romantic women. But never fear, there are plenty of other interesting topics to discuss when it comes to love and romance, barring any gender.
