Welcome to the 2008 Winter Festival! Who doesn't dread winter? Unless you're a polar bear, chances are you dread it as much as I do. But admit it, there's something magical about an untouched, pristine, white blanket of snow sparkling in the sun that makes you want to go roll and frolic in it. Build a snowman. Go sledding. And come back inside, change into some warm, dry clothes, sit down with a hot cup of cocoa and check out the latest on WDC. Well, whether you decide to go outside or not, come find our snowmen hidden throughout The Holding Pond, ABA and New Horizons and explore other wintry landscapes with us! All WDC members are invited to win GPs, donate to worthy causes, buy Christmas presents for your WDC friends, participate in our wintry contests and much more. Signup begins on November 6, 2008 and the festivities will last until Spring, 2009. Sign up using our convenient survey below! Many thanks to for their time, advice, and generosity! I couldn't have put this together without you! ![]() Donations are welcome and appreciated, regardless of size! You may make your donations here:

Snowman Volunteer Sign up: November 6 - November 14, 2008 Volunteer to be a snowman and receive reviews on your piece. Please email me to be a snowman! All participants are welcome to be snowmen as well as hunt for snowmen (but there's no need to review your own work). Snowman Hunt Begins: November 15 - January 9, 2009 Hidden throughout our participants ports are at least 30 snowmen (possibly more!). Here's all you have to do! image:1491283 For all who hunt and find snowmen a magical gift shall be received! (Between 50 and 3000 GPs, at random per review based on the quality of the review). The person who finds the most snowmen by January 9, 2009 will be showered with 50,000 GPs, and a Reviewing Merit Badge! (minimum that must be found for this prize to be awarded is at least half of the total number of participants)! Even if you don't find a snowman yet still review someone's work on the participant list, you too shall get a special prize for each review! (Remember: You have to use the image to qualify!) In the event of a tie, a merit badge will be awarded to each winner and GPs will be divided evenly among the winners. Be sure to visit the scoreboard frequently to check how many snowmen you've found. Only one review per snowman qualifies (in other words, each person can only hide one snowman so once you've found theirs you're free to move on to the next person but remember, you get prizes for non-snowmen reviews too!).
Everyone is a winner in this special event! Last but not least, please no peeking at the public reviews section for hints as to where to snowmen are located. Part of the fun is in the hunt! ![]() Winter Festival Raffle Donations Accepted - November 6 - December 12, 2008
Join us for lots of wintry gifts and surprises in our Festival raffle. This is a great way to pick up some new gifts for your WDC friends just in time for the holidays! Proceeds to benefit three fabulous WDC groups - Affected by Abuse, The Holding Pond, and New Horizons Academy, all of which have been instrumental to my success and enjoyment since joining WDC! ![]() Steal-a-Gift Valentine Exchange February 1 - February 14, 2009 This is an online spin on a fun Christmas family tradition. Everyone 'brings' a gift to our holiday event, preferably not to be valued more than 100,000 GPs (this is so everyone is in the same price range for gifts but it's up to you). Everyone is given a number via virtual dice and that is the order in which everyone receives their gift. When it's their 'turn', they have a choice to either 'steal' someone's gift who opened before them, or 'open' a new gift. Of course, because this is online, we'll just all know what the gifts are ahead of time. The forum for this can be found here:
Wintry Reviews for Charity November 20 - Spring 2009 Request a review and donate to a worthy group on WDC! All reviews are done by yours truly, Michelle Keyes. Reviews will consist of constructive feedback designed to help you improve the piece! Check out the forum for all the details.
Thank you all for your participation. If you have any concerns, please don't hesitate to email me! We sure hope you enjoy all the wintry activities! If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to email me and I'll get back to you when I can. Have fun! Shelly Keyes |
