The contest for May is "Short Shots: Official Contest" 


The following winners for the April 2013 running of "What a Character!"  were chosen from the 22 entries submitted. Each entry was judged based on the criteria provided in "What a Character!" . Congratulations to the following three winners:

*Bullet* Third Place - "Another Kind of Luck "   by Dr Matt Everbusy

One key part of writing is character development. There are many techniques available to assist writers in developing their characters so readers can connect and come away with a good understanding of the character and their motives. This contest explores those techniques.

Prompt for April 2013: Your character decides to pursue a new career direction. Write the story about this change and why it happened.


The task is simple: Write a story using the prompt above to introduce your character to the reader.

*Note3* Your story must be:
*Bullet* An introduction to your character using the given prompt.
*Bullet* Fiction.
*Bullet* Rated 18+ or below: Any entry that falls above this rating will be disqualified.
*Bullet* 2000 words or fewer: Word count must be provided at the bottom of the item or your entry will be disqualified.
*Bullet* Newly written for this contest: Create your story as a Static Item and keep it in your portfolio. Send us the item ID number in {b-item:xxxxxx} format of the item you wish to submit using this survey form below.
