Spotlight on Character!
Writing Vivid Characters and Realistic Dialogue

Course Admission Evaluation

Hello!  I'm Ms. Katz, instructor for New Horizons Academy's Spotlight on Character course.

Spotlight on Character is a college-level, intermediate to advanced level course. A strong understanding of basic prose writing principles as well as good writing craftsmanship skills are a must before tackling this course.  This evaluation will help us determine if you've acquired the writing skills and knowledge to be successful in completing the Spotlight course.

Please answer all of the questions below to the best of your knowledge.  There are no specifically right or wrong answers.  The goal here is to get a feel for your current writing level and your understanding of prose writing basics.

In the last question please include a link to one of your recently written (within the last twelve months) pieces of prose.  The piece should be between 700 and 1000 words long, in order for me to do an accurate evaluation of your work.  Click on the link below for instructions on creating a bitem link.
