I was born in 1974 on a farm in a quiet rural community in northeast Ohio, USA. Until I was about 10, we had dairy cattle, some grain, and an assortment of other barnyard animals. Then my dad sold off the herd and has been strictly grain ever since. Lucky for me. My four older sisters grew up having to rise and shine at 4:30 or 5:00 AM to milk cows, and had to bale hay every summer, but I was too young, and then that part of it was over. I grew up riding horses, playing with dogs and barn cats, camping in our 30-acre woods, and rambling around the back-country roads on my bike, my own two feet, or a horse's four feet. I showed horses through 4-H, but had to sell my last baby when I went off to college.

I attended Kent State University, where I obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Physical Anthropology (archaeology). I used this degree for two years straight out of school, then decided that archaeology in Ohio wasn't for me. (I had studied Classical Mediterranean archaeology in school, and this wasn't it!) After that, I became a technical writer and editor at Qwest Communications, a telecommunications company, then moved into the insurance industry and project management. Due to my technical background, I am an adept mechanical and copy editor (grammar, punctuation, etc.). If you're in need of such services, please email me.

I began working on an idea for a novel many years ago, based on my fascination with Classical Greece and its mythology. I've done quite a bit of research to try to get the historical details about everyday life correct. I began actually writing the story, tentatively titled "Out of the Labyrinth [13+]. The first four chapters are posted in my portfolio. This story began to fizzle out on me, so I put it on the back burner and began work on a couple other projects.

In addition to my forays in writing, I have a home-based business called Kiko Kreations, through which I create fine and sterling silver and semi-precious gemstone jewerly, and decorative glass-fused-to-copper items (copper enameling).
