"2007 Quills Nominees and Winners" Hello and welcome to the 1st annual Quill Awards ceremony! I'll put up a proper introduction on the day of the actual ceremony, which will be March 17th, starting at about 5:30 WDC time, mayhaps a few minutes later (depending on traffic getting to the library...). Thanks to all who nominated and congratulations to all who were nominated! Awards Ceremony Manners: -I will give an introduction at the beginning and a little spiel on each award, followed by a drumroll and the announcement of the winner -After each winner is announced, I will give one or two minutes of time for the winner to post an acceptance speech if he/she is so inclined/present -Anyone may post congratulations during this time too, as well as say anything they deem appropriate -KEEP IT IN THE RATING!!! Don't throw cuss words out like candy or explicit references -Have fun! |
The nominees for Best Multiple-Person Activity are: " A Bargain for sure!" And the winner is... (Andrew C. Bowman Cloud7 for "Secret Pal Initiation Room"! *corny music and wild applause* (Andrew C. Bowman (I'll give a minute for congrats and speeches and such.) (Andrew C. Bowman YAAAAAAAY, for Cloud7 !!! (Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! (Don't be afraid... you can post right now!) (Andrew C. Bowman Yay! Although a name like Writing Dot Com may lead one to believe that the site is a haven for writers, by writers, and only of writers, that assumption falls far short of reality. There are amazing artists among us. (Andrew C. Bowman The nominees for Best Signature are: "Invalid Item" *sneaks ANOTHER shrimp cocktail*... (Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! (I must admit they're quite disgusting. Not a big shrimp fan here...) And the winner is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Semper Fi, for "Emblem Signature"! Congrats! *more talking time for y'all* (Andrew C. Bowman Contests. If you've been on WDC more than a few weeks, odds are good you've seen a few and entered a couple. Heck, you're watching the results of one right now! (Andrew C. Bowman *douses Semper Fi with champagne* Congrats! (MaryLou Sorry, they're today, mighta confuzzed some peeps there. (Andrew C. Bowman You've also probably noticed that there are a few contests out there that are better than others, the ones that make you eager to enter. The nominees for Best Contest are: (Andrew C. Bowman hoops for SEMPRE FI!!!!
(Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! "Crack Kraken's Code Contest [Round Over]" "Invalid Item" Of course, I meant "CALGAME" And the winner is... (Andrew C. Bowman Lynn Mckenzie for "Live Jam"! *ce-le-bra-shun time, come on!* (Andrew C. Bowman WoooooooooHooooooo! (Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! As a community, WDC is very giving and supportive. Charities are everywhere, support groups thrive, common interest groups abound. (Andrew C. Bowman The nominees for Best Group are: "Invalid Item" And the winner is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Molly Jean for "The Talent Pond"! (Andrew C. Bowman COngrats, Molly Jean!
(Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! My regards to the nominees in the following category. Nearly everyone has, at some point, wanted to write a book. Most, myself included, have never actually gone and done it. And these people not only did it, but did a remarkable job! (Andrew C. Bowman The nominees for Best Book are "Irrelevant (Monthly Serial)" And the winner is.... (Andrew C. Bowman L. A. Powell for "The Diaries of Lisa Lansing"! (Andrew C. Bowman yay, L.A. Powell! *throws confettie* (MaryLou There are a few brave souls among us who steel themselves against criticism and tell the world their thoughts and opinions not just once, but day after day. (Andrew C. Bowman The nominees for Best Blog are "Invalid Item" claps approvingly....
(Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! And the winner is... (Andrew C. Bowman Acme, for "Bloggerholic"! (Andrew C. Bowman yay for Acme! *dumps chocolate pie over her head* (MaryLou congrats, acme
(Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! Alright, that's a wrap for Non-Static Awards! On to Statics! And I'm also out of script here, so things will go faster. (Andrew C. Bowman It takes quite a bit of skill to get a message and wrap it up nicely in just a few lines, and even harder to do all that and keep some form of structure and rhyme. The nominees for Best Short Poem-Structured are... too many to name here. (Andrew C. Bowman Please see the list of nominees (link at the top of the page) to see specifics. And the winner is.... (Andrew C. Bowman S. L. Stiles, for "You Won't See Me", and an Honorable Mention to "Psalm of Stars" by A. Nonymous! (Andrew C. Bowman Hurrah for both recipients!!! (Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! Some people take poetry a step (or five) further and come up with epics in their own right. The nominees for Best Long Poem-Structured are: "The Seasons" Kip for "A lone Man Walks A Dark Road"! (Andrew C. Bowman Kip, Kip Hooray! (MaryLou Beyond rhyme and (sometimes) reason lies freeverse poetry, so here's the nominees for Best Short Poem-Freeverse: "i miss america" CONGRATULATIONS, KIP!
(Of Fire Born ~ welcome, 2012! Semper Fi for "Constant Autumn", with an Honorable Mention to Backlit Saturn for "i miss america"! (Andrew C. Bowman Freeverse, like structured poetry, has a longer counterpart as well, another place where words fly freely. The nominees for Best Long Poem-Freeverse are: "Invalid Item" Bakar for "sketch at the concrete"! (This one was particularly refreshing). (Andrew C. Bowman *drumroll please* (Andrew C. Bowman The nominees for Best Overall Poem are the winners of the last 4 categories: S L Stiles "You Won't See Me", Kip "A lone Man Walks A Dark Road", Semper Fi "Constant Autumn", and Bakar "sketch at the concrete". (Andrew C. Bowman And the winner is.... *drumroll please* (Andrew C. Bowman Bakar for "sketch at the concrete"! Congrats! (Andrew C. Bowman (Yeah Semper Fi, you're rolling 'em in!) (Andrew C. Bowman For the more prolific poets among the members of the site, we have the award for Best Poetry Collection. The nominees are: a lot of people. You remember that link I mentioned a bit ago? Click it.
And the winner is... (Andrew C. Bowman S. L. Stiles for "Inspirational Poems"! (Andrew C. Bowman Although real life can be annoying, it has some mighty interesting points. The nominees for Best Short Non-Fiction are: "Conversation with My Friend, Anxiety." (I'm starting to run short on time, so pardon me if I don't list the nominees for the remaining categories. That link can be mighty useful right now....) (Andrew C. Bowman Semper Fi (again!) for "There Goes Santa Claus"! (Andrew C. Bowman There's novels, novellas, short stories, and short short stories. And then there's flash fic, a whole story in just a few words. The winner for Best Flash Fiction is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Andrew C. Bowman for "Blowfish", and an Honorable Mention to Twyls for "When Everything Else is Gone"! (Andrew C. Bowman Lynn Mckenzie for "House of Wax" and an Honorable Mention to ChallengeMe for "Keeping the Balance"! (Andrew C. Bowman That makes both of them nominees for the following category, Best Short Story. There were a LOT, LOOOT of entries in this category, and it was mighty hard to pick a winner out of all of them. The winner is.... (Andrew C. Bowman (Whoops! Meant to put those last two the other way around!) (Andrew C. Bowman Alright, that covers Static Awards. On to Overall Awards, covering both divisions. (Andrew C. Bowman First, Genre awards. Every nomination is automatically entered into an appropriate Genre category, so there's an even chance. The winner for Best Action/Adventure is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Ragatode for "Retribution"! (Andrew C. Bowman Next, the award for Best Comedy Item on this site. These were all really good. And the winner is... (Andrew C. Bowman JR for "The Spin Doctor at mayhew Medical Center"! (Andrew C. Bowman Now that we're done laughing, let's sober up a bit. The winner of the Best Drama/Emotional category is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Twyls for "When Everything Else is Gone"! (Andrew C. Bowman Now that we're done laughing, let's sober up a bit. The winner of the Best Drama/Emotional category is.... (Andrew C. Bowman (Once again, I have managed to mess up.... That's the problem with these 'Live' things....) (Andrew C. Bowman Okay, enough sniffling, let's get some action in here. STAR WARS!!! Oh, wait, even better! The winner of Best Fantasy/Sci-Fi is... (Andrew C. Bowman Eric the Fred for "Irrelevant"! (Look for it in Books) (Andrew C. Bowman Now that we're good and hyped, let's get scared (don't you just love this roller coaster of emotions?!). The winner of Best Horror/Gothic is.... (Andrew C. Bowman Semper Fi once again for "The Dare"! (Andrew C. Bowman And thus the roller coaster ride comes to an end. *wipes sweat off forehead* That was fun! Okay, let's wrap this up with the last two awards: Best Newbie Portfolio and Best Portfolio. (Andrew C. Bowman The Best New WDC Portfolio of 2007 is..... *drumroll puh-lease* (Andrew C. Bowman Acme And now, the final prize of the night (afternoon?): the Best Portfolio award. Untold riches and fame await the winner! Or just a couple Merit Badges, awardicons, GPs, and reviews, either way.... (Andrew C. Bowman The final winner, for Best Portfolio is.... (Andrew C. Bowman *commercial break* (Andrew C.
