Why only young writers?
Writing when you're younger is a completely different experience that it is when you're older. The writers in this group will be in school, facing parents, and other things. While older writers have their own challenges, this group is focused on helping writers, especially in their teenage years, accomplish the feat of writing.
What is the cut-off age for joining?
Well, there is none, but if you are above 25 years of age and you still want to join, you can be a mentor. You will not be able to participate in the contests except to judge, but adding to the discussion would be reccomended. A mentor's job would consist of encouraging the young writers, answering questions in the forum and chat room, and helping to judge contests. *Please note that writers above 25 years of age that want to join will have a max number of members.
What happens when I turn 26?
You have a choice of leaving the group or staying as a mentor. Either is fine, but you will no longer be able to participate in the contests, unless you want to help judge.
How do I sign up?
You can sig up by filling out this form: "Join the League"
What if I'm older? Can I still join?
Well... yes. You can join as a writing mentor for the group and still participate in the activities and discussions. We could use the help!
Where will my donation go?
Donations will be used for prizes to give to the members who work hard at their writing, whether in contests or generally throughout the site. If we have enough, even writers that work hard but don't managed to complete their goal can earn a prize. Donations will also be used to help fund our Member of the Month program and to award prizes to members who have gained points throughout the month.
I need help with the group, whether you are a teen or adult. Mentors are much needed and greatly appreciated. Newsletter help would also be greatly appreciated (I want to run a weekly newsletter, but I would need more help to manage that). Also, some help with the points system would be amazing! It wouldn't consist of a lot of work; you'd only have one or two tasks (or points topics) to investigate. If you are interested in any of these positions - or can think of more - please email me at sara_ann@writing.com (Sara - Happy NaNoing!).
