How it Works
Every month new members are chosen to join our group. Only a limited number of members are inducted every
month via our voting system. When the voting booth closes each new member decides which suit they would like to
be inducted into.
As of November 12, 2009 only those members 18 and older will be allowed to join. Those that were
inducted before this date will be grandfathered in. The reason we only allow members who are 18 and over is because
a lot of our members have content in their portfolio that may not be appropriate for anybody under the age of 18. We
do not wish to censor anybody and it is too difficult to maintain dual forums and reviews for the seperate ages. Our
sincere apologies if this offends anybody, it is not intended to.
Hearts - This suit represents writers that prefer to write poetry.
Clubs - This suit represents writers that prefer to write novels and novelettes, outlines and letters.
Spades - This suit represents writers that prefer to write short stories and scripts or plays.
Diamonds - This suit represents writers that prefer to write documentaries, essays, articles, columns and thesis.
Wild - Wild cards are those members that have not specified which suit they would like to be in, or those members
that simply do a little bit of everything.
Suits are not a serious aspect of the group; rather they are a fun little "extra" that adds a little bit of dimension to
the group. In some challenges, contests and activities, we may ask different suits to complete different tasks.
We centralize in an an area known as "Flying Aces Writing Forum" , a place to help with specific issues and advice that members
need in any aspect of their writing. Members may post their work, seek critique, and generally ‘get down to business’ with
their writing.
There are plenty of activities and contests to take part in with more always being brainstormed. Activities and contest
participation is entirely optional and offers a refreshing way to conquer writers block or simply be a fun thing to do on
the side.
What Can I do Here?
We encourage every member or anyone interested in becoming a member to take a self guided tour of the website
and check out all the links to familiarize themselves with the many facets of the group. One of our largest focuses is
"Mourning Rayne" , a newly appointed activity within the group, where members to review each other every
month.
Are There Any Rules?
We do not require anything of our members as far as participation goes with side activities, but we require that
each member completes three reviews in "A.C.E. - Writers' Group of Excellency" every month, following the rules set forth there. We do not feel that this is asking for too
much, however we do realize that some people can not meet those obligations. We ask that if you are going to be gone for an extended period of time (over a month)
that you please contact a Moderator (listed on the main group's site) and let us know. Other then that, we understand
that people have their own life outside of the internet.
Who are the Moderators, Anyways?
The Moderators are a group of people, not much unlike yourself. They work hard to keep this group running and they
try to stay as active as possible (Barring real life, of course.) - They are here to help answer any questions you may have,
offer any advice you may need and keep an eye on the place. Many of them host side activities for the group and all of
them can be found in most any forum. Each Moderator has offered to "specialize" on a specific portion of the group
and they all communicate together regularly to improve the group.
