I love to write role play stories with other people and have participated in several epic tales on other sites over the years. I thought it might be a nice idea to find some like minded individuals on the WDC site who can gather together to start work on a group story of our own.

Genre:
For the moment this works best as fantasy. If the concept becomes popular enough, I will set up a sci-fi group as well.

The premise:
Role playing is the concept of assuming a role or character and behaving according to the attributes that one has assigned to that character. It is much like acting except in this instance it is in written form. When you join the group you must create your character. I will impose no limitations on the choice of character at this time.

To begin:
I would suggest that you start with the basics such as gender, name, age, race, skills and a few phsyical specifics. For example:

Gender: Male
Name: Azeron
Age: 157
Race: Human Mage
Skills: Experienced in practising magic (both dark and light). Adept at wielding a long sword, although rarely resorts to doing so.
Physical: Tall and thin with a long white beard that is woven into a plait. He wears a dark grey cloak, the hood of which covers his head at all times, unless of course it is caught by the wind which makes him grumpy.

Hopefully this give you a good impression of the sort of things you need to think about to start off with. As I mentioned before, anything goes. As to race there is a wealth of options that come from all manner of literature, for example, Human, Orc, Fairy, Werewolf, Interdimensional traveller, Changling, Vampire, Warrior, Wizard, e.t.c. Or of course you could create something completely new. Once you have thought about your character post in the forum below to introduce yourself and go from there!

To quest:
If you have an idea of a quest or mission then by all means post it up and see if you have any takers. Each character who signs up to a quest will then contribute towards the story from their own characters point of view. If the group takes off I will set up a system of gift points to be rewarded on completion of quests to each member contributing towards it. The main idea with this is that it is a good way of practising writing, and hopefully of giving inspiration to anyone who enjoys fantasy style writing. It is not to be taken too seriously.
