These things can be hard to say. I was adopted. Our child is adopted. I gave my child to adoption. Behind each is an emotive content which only the person who says the words fully understands. Each adoption story is one of millions and yet is unique in the set of curcumstances and background. One size does not fit all. It is logical to think that when a child is adopted into a family some families will be a better fit. The personality types may not gel and therefore cause difficulties. So many adopted people experience cognative dissonence but just know it as that strange feeling inside. Come along and share thoughts negatives, positives and in betweens. The opinions out there are as many and as varied as the experiences. This is a group where feelings are validated and I for one would never say 'be grateful' or 'you were lucky' or any other stock phrases often heard in connection to adoption. |
