I surf the internet daily, for various reasons. I read news, browse for information both for personal use and for my writing, and play games.
I've happened upon many writing contests in my eight years of surfing the net and I've decided to help spread the word of some good ones. I surf a lot and I only choose those contests which are free to enter, are well run and maintained and offer either a substantial prize or a smaller prize but run by a well known company.
An example would be the Top Ten joke in the David Letterman contest. Not only would the winner win a mousepad, but of course, their joke would be on the show.
If you happen upon some great WRITING contests, please put them here. One no-no: Please do not include any links for poetry.com! They are a bonafide scam and I do not endorse that site at all. Thanks!
Please follow these guidelines:
 One must need to write something to win.
A contest has not ended when you post, and one has ample time to enter.
Writing Competitions must *not* be a contest hosted on Writing.Com.
In your post, type http://URL.com, a very brief description and the contest begin and end date, if available. If you have room, post the Grand Prize.
I would prefer there be no entry fee, but I will not delete posts with reasonable guidelines and fees.
As contests end, I will delete the post.
