So, an American auto company can make a SUV that gets 44 MPG. *Shock* I bet they can do even better than that with some investment. They evidently have no problem selling this in Europe. How about making this in the USA Bill Ford? Right in the SUV assembly plant you're planning to shut down! *Angry*
