This illustration is for "A Mermaid's Brother," the tale of a little boy who thinks he'd like to be a different animal so his brother would treat him better.

This picture of a cheetah is one of the boy's imaginings. If he can run as fast as a cheetah, he can keep up with his brother. That's a good idea, but it might be hard for him to make many friends! Everyone is afraid of a cheetah.

I made this illustration first with pencil and then with watercolor paints, a black marker, and a little computer enhancement so the colors would shine.
