A Mermaid's Brother

This illustration is for "A Mermaid's Brother," the tale of a little boy who thinks he'd like to be a different animal so his brother would treat him better.

This picture of a merman is from the boy's imagination. I wonder what it would be like to never leave the ocean. Would a merman have wrinkled skin? That's what happens to me if I'm in the water too long!

I made this illustration first with pencil and then with watercolor paints, a black marker, and a little computer enhancement so the colors would shine.
