This illustration is for "A Mermaid's Brother," the tale of a little boy who thinks he'd like to be a different animal so his brother would treat him better. This picture of a tent reminds me of the times my brother and I camped in our own backyard. I rarely made it through the night. My brother's scary stories usually drove me into the house, but it was great fun anyway. I made this illustration first with pencil and then with watercolor paints, a black marker, and a little computer enhancement so the colors would shine. If you click on the picture, it will take you to the story where you can read what happens to the little boy and see all the other pictures, as well. Or, you can use the bitem to get you there, too.
