I Was There!
This is a poem about being there for someone.

I was there that day
when the boys sang,
the girls danced, and
all the beautiful people
cheered from France.

I was there in the day
when the angels hummed
and Mary's little lamb
was sure to run.

I was there in the day
when purity reigned along
with hopscotch, butterflies,
and sugar canes.

I was there in the day
when purity was right,
family was the norm,
and it was okay to be polite.

I was there that day when
he uttered his love, to me
from his heart, and
said he was my stud.

Saying all of the right things
that made me love him more
while his words were igniting
my very core.

I was there that day
when things didn't go right,
and all of his dreams
seemed to take to flight
and all that was left were
our hopes and prayers that
were prayed to God with Him
so near.

I was there in that night
when he pulled me close
and said whatever happens
he would never let me go.

I was there that night
when mornigng finally came
bringing life and newness
all over again.

He gives me gifts, roses, and wine,
but nothing can compare
to a love so refined.

Love me tender, love me sweet,
love me my darling because
you're so sweet

because nothing can compare
to a love like yours
only dirty little noses
on mischeivious little boys.
