Creepie looked down at the Scarab Amulet in contemplation over how to use the powerful artifact. When she went to get it, all she had on her mind was shrinking down and joining her buggy family, then she thought back to the feeding frenzy last night. With the amulet she could shrink herself down, or go out and shrinking a group of humans down for her family to snack on. It was really a question of whether Creepie should have fun or be responsible. While that problem might have been easy for most preteens, it was a tough question for the serious girl.

Gnat buzzed into the room and landed on his sister’s shoulders. He looked up at her huge head and in his buzzing voice asked her what she was thinking about.

“Just whether to shrink down or shrink some humans down for the family,” Creepie mumbled as she tapped her chin thoughtfully. All this thinking was giving her a headache. She had to do something, but what? Gnat buzzed up to her ear and whispered a suggestion that put a big smile on Creepie’s face.

“That’s a great idea. I’ll shrink some humans down, bring them home and shrink myself then. I’ll even be able to join in the feeding with the rest of the family.” Creepie licked her lips, eager for a second serving of man. She wasn’t very hungry, but she still wanted to fill herself up with squirming, tasty humans. Harry was mostly gone by now and her stomach was back to it’s chubby normal size. It might have been empty now, but Creepie had no plans to make that last.

“Come on Gnat. There are a group of senior high school boys who like to push around the freshmen. Lets show them what it’s like to be at the bottom of the food chain.”

Gnat nodded eagerly to that, wanting his second taste of human too. He might of nearly split open the last time he swallowed down a human, but there was always risk when you ate something bigger then yourself. They headed to the door to begin the hunt, when they both paused. Creepie froze and Gnat nearly dropped out of the air when they saw what was happening on the ceiling.

“What the…” Creepie gasped as she stared into a blue swirling vortex coming out of her ceiling. It liked like a glowing whirlpool, it shone with a supernatural glow that made Creepie’s skin crawl. She had seen some weird things liking in a house with bugs, but she’d never seen anything remotely like this. Creepie might have stared at the churning blue hole in her ceiling all day, if she hadn’t noticed the arachnid portion of her family crawling along the ceiling towards the vortex.

“Hey, what are you guys doing?” Creepie asked as they walked single file into the swirling vortex. The spiders didn’t say anything, they just kept moving towards the glowing hole. In the silence, Creepie did hear something though, singing and it was coming from the vortex.

“Something’s up with that vortex, Gnat,” Creepie whispered to her brother. The bug nodded and stared at the hole in the ceiling. Whatever was going on, it was a lot bigger then him or Creepie. He had to get his mother and father and tell them what was going on, they’d know what to do. The important thing was not to go near the potentially dangerous vortex.

“You coming.”

Gnat looked up and his buggy eyes grew three sizes, Creepie was crawling on the ceiling towards the vortex. He buzzed at her to get down, but it was too late. Creepie had reached towards the glowing blue hole and was pulled in, Gnat saw her pudgy legs kicking just before she disappeared. Buzzing loudly, he raced to join her sister, only wondering where the vortex would take him and Creepie.
