Having calmed down, she hadn't moved off the table since she arrived in the Batcave, mainly because she didn't want to see her fat jiggle and dance before her eyes. All she wanted to do was wake up from this nightmare.
On the other hand, she was getting bored justing sitting there doing nothing. Cats may enjoy that, but no matter how much she purred, she was human. Catwoman decided to get up and have a look around. She stood, and on cue, her belly bobbed once or twice. She tried not to look at it.
Selina could only begin to wonder about this cave. Were they still in Gotham? Did Batman live here? Where was the exit?
A sudden realization hit her. Looking back at the stairs, she saw that the only door in this place was made of solid steel. Most likely, locked.
Even when she decided to move, she was still trapped.
A cat in a cage.
She heard typing on a keyboard. Next she saw that it was Batman, still working on the computer. So with Option A "Leave without saying goodbye" out of the question, she could at least keep herself from being bored.
"I don't suppose you have any good news for me?" Catwoman inquired.
"Not yet I'm afraid." Batman didn't even look away from the monitor.
"I'm going to try testing your blood." he now looked at her. Earlier Batman had drawn blood from Catwoman, to see if it would get him any closer to a cure. He had tried this before with Barbarra, but the results were too inconclusive to tell anything. Hopefully this would be different.
He took the vile to another section of the Bat-computer, and inserted it into a slot. "Run Spectrographic scan." he ordered the computer. It complied. After about four different types of scans, the results were printed out.
Batman read the report, and wasn't happy. He only had a small amount of new information from before. Aside from a few more ingredients, he still didn't know every component that made up Chemical V. Taking a guess was out of the question, since he couldn't risk accidentally making Catwoman even worse.
"I'm going to need more time." he said as he walked back to his seat. "So what am I supposed to do, just sit and wait?" Catwoman asked.
"I don't really see what else you could do." Batman spoke again without looking. Now that really hurt, not just because Batman spoke so coldly, but because it was true.
Selina looked back at those times when she was still skinny. She was the cat who walked by herself. The city was her hunting ground. She prowled through Gotham each evening, going where she liked, and taking what ever she wanted.
Now, how could she do that, as a fat cat? She wouldn't be able to leap rooftops that's for sure. Every step she made would be like an eathquake.
Once before, Selina Kyle had given up on being Catwoman. Now, it seemed like the cat had her claws clipped for real this time.
"Would it kill you to be more sympathetic?" Batman groaned. Here he was trying to save Selina, and probably all of Gotham, and she wouldn't stop whining. All Batman wanted to do was help Catwoman, but she was being as impossible as ever.
"What do you want me to do, lie to make you feel better?" he asked after getting back up.
"It would probably be the first time you tried to make anybody feel better. You know what your problem is, you don't care about anyone else's feelings!" A long overdue speech from Catwoman.
"Your problem is that you manipulate people's feelings." Batman was getting frustrated.
"You can't even begin to imagine how I'm feeling!" Catwoman pointed out.
"That's not my concern. Now if you would just be quiet for two minutes, and stop crying over your weight, I might actually be able to get some work done!" Batman finished.
What happened next he could not have forseen.
He made Catwoman cry. That's right, Batman's painful words finally hit the soft spot in Catwoman. A notion, which he was not very proud of. He went over as she tried to stop the tears.
"I'm sorry." Selina quit her crying the moment she heard that. "You're right, I can't imagine what you are going through." he added. Catwoman wiped her remaining tears "About time you realized,".
"Maybe you could help me. Two heads are better than one." he suggested. She gladly accepted.
Batman let Catwoman have the seat.
"So what else do we know about Chemical V?" she asked. "Well aside from the massive increase in hunger, it somehow also grants the host the ability to eat a whole human being." Batman let that slip.
"I changed my mind." That was more than Selina wanted to know. When she went to get up though, she found that she was stuck. He bluubery butt had wedged in too deep into the chair "Oh for god's sake!". As if this wasn't bad enough for her alone, Batman knew the only way to get her out.
"I...think I can help." His face turned red. Catwoman gladly accepted any help. Then, she felt where he was grabbing.
"Hey, easy with the hands." she reminded.
